As all Samsung netbook owners may have noticed, the brightness goes crazy (alternates the brightness randomly) on Ubuntu 11.10, when you remove the plug or try to adjust the brightness. Also on older Ubuntu versions the brightness keyboard shortcuts don’t work. All of this can be solved using Samsung-tools.

All you have to do, is open open the terminal and type in the following:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:voria/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install samsung-tools samsung-backlight

Just restart your netbook, and everything is then magically fixed!

Wow! It worked great. I thought I was going to have to live with a dull screen. Thank you!
